Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Chelmsford, MA


How you will make a difference:
A Quality Engineer is an integral member of the Quality organization. This individual would participate in tactical as well as strategic functions, working across competencies and providing support across programs and projects. The ideal candidate is well versed in quality requirements for new product introductions, understanding production readiness from a quality standpoint and is highly skilled in executing the quality functions necessary to support production. This individual enforces the application and use of established business processes and strives to identify and drive continuous improvement.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify quality requirements, assemble quality plans and execute plans in support of product development programs.
• Participate in design reviews to provide quality input. Influence the design as practical to ensure quality, reliability and manufacturability.
• Ensure that critical product characteristics (form, fit, function, safety) are identified on engineering specifications for design qualification and process control.
• Participate in the selection and qualification of suppliers.
• Participate in prototype and preproduction builds and reviews to ensure objectives and success criteria are defined
• Work in collaboration with contract manufacturers and operations personnel to execute final pre-production build requirements and assess production readiness
• Conduct, analyze and report on quality metrics to measure product and process quality.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturers to develop Quality Control Plans.
• Ensure that all specified marketing and engineering requirements are reviewed and met prior to product launch.
• Conduct product and process audits to assure adherence to program commitments, design standards and other procedures and processes.
• Interface directly with external customer on issues pertaining to quality.
• Perform other related tasks as required by manager.
• Conduct Internal Quality Audits to ISO and Internal Quality requirements.
• Apply SPC techniques to determine opportunities for process optimization and improvement and reduce process variations.
• Lead verification and improvement of processes through analysis of the test results, FMEA analysis, and cost of quality studies.
• Participate in and maintain supplier performance and quality rating.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, EE preferred
• 3-5 years' experience working as a QE on multiple programs from concept to production
• Skilled with analysis tools / methods
• Skilled with problem solving tools / methods such as DOE
• Skilled with defect avoidance methodologies such as poke yoke, DFMEA / PFMEA
• Good knowledge and experience with validation testing and production test equipment qualification
